STATEMENT OF PURPOSEThe purpose of this study is to assess the influences of anxiety, depression, and coping strategies on older people?s suicidal ideation.
STATEMENT OF RESEARCH METHODOLOGYThis is a cross-section and descriptive design research. The participants should have clear conscious, cognition, and answer questions appropriately. The age is over than 50 years old and they can understand English. They will be recruited from the community. After they understand this study and they are willing to participate, they will sign informed consent. They will be asked to fill out the questionnaire and there is no name on the questionnaire. After they complete the questionnaire, they will get a pack of chocolate.
ANTICIPATED RISKS AND BENEFITSThere is no risk for filling the questionnaire. The benefit is they will get a pack of chocolate. They will take about 30-40 minutes to complete the questionnaire. They can stop to participate at any time. They are voluntary to participate this study.
SUBJECT SELECTIONAbout 100 older people will be recruited from community. The age is over than 50 years old and they can understand English. The participants should have clear conscious, cognition, and answer questions appropriately.
CONFIDENTIALITYThere is no name on the questionnaire. All data will be integrated, so no one will be recognized. The questionnaires will be keep is a locked drawer. Only the investigator can access the questionnaires. The questionnaires will be shred after 6 years.
